Occasionally, I think about the actual “presence” of God, like Him hovering in the heavens. I am awestruck by the probable, indescribable girth-greatness of God! He measured the waters for the earth in the hollow (middle) of his hand. He marked off the heavens with the breadth (span) of his hand (from the little finger to the thumb). He has measured the dust (dirt) of the earth and weighed the mountains and hills on scales in a balance… with His hands (Isaiah 40: 12 NIV). His hands represent the enormity of not only earth, but the universe. Science estimates that the size of an adult person’s heart is two fists. To imagine beyond humongous the size of God’s heart eludes comprehension!

How is it that this Giant Creative God, with a colossal heart, would even think of loving you and me?! A mystery we will have to satisfy in eternity – the depth of God’s love for us and the vastness of His glory (Psalm 24:1-2 ESV).
Yet, God takes the time to know each of us intimately, with a plan for our future and purpose for our today. He is completely sovereign, needing nothing from us. We cannot take a number and get on line to get to Heaven’s door. Our money will not open the door, our skills won’t do it either, our good works, our heritage, or who we know, don’t work either. Good thing for us that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God; otherwise, none of us would make it to the other side.


Bottom line, everything we know about God is based on His Heart! God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 NKJV). God never has to make up His mind about us. He is never surprised at what we do, think, or say, and will never leave or forsake us in who we are. We were created to communicate and commune with Him heart to Heart! Wherever we find ourselves (upward turns, downward spirals, mediocre middles), seeking and maintaining fulfillment in God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is our only greatest priority!
Our Father’s heart of love harbors everything we need in this life to “be” all of what He had in mind before we were born. His desire is that no one would be left behind (out of relationship with Him) and doomed to an eternal hell. Recognizing this love on every level of our lives is the peace, hope, and joy we are promised through faith.

A prayer for our soul: “that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:14-21 NIV.)
